So I got a chance to pick up the entire collection from KiC on one of their previous sales and thought I would share my take on them for those who might be interested. Also a few people have mentioned they would like to see "ratings", however I have always tried not to because numbers don't relate well. I only use them on <a href="https://www.<a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/<a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/eliquid_c_7.html”>eliquid_c_7.html”>juicedb.com”><a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/<a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/eliquid_c_7.html”>eliquid_c_7.html”>juiceDB because it is required. So I will attempt using a new system of just a simple word or two instead.
K into N (Fatal Flaw)
So as a lover of Lenola, I was ecstatic with KiC released a new flavor. However I was quickly overwhelmed by the number of complex flavors they added to the menu. So, being indecisive, I picked up the whole collection! K into N being described as sweet potato with berry syrup and candied chestnuts intrigued me a little as I love sweet potatoes. The scent of the bottle is sweet potato with a nutty presence that is quickly joined by a berry syrup.
On the inhale you first get the starchy taste of sweet potato which is joined by a mild berry sweetness. Now as a lover of sweet potato I have to say that while the flavor is not 100% spot on, it is very close. The whole overall sweet potato experience is there minus a few small nuances. At this point the berries are not syrupy and are fairly undefined. Before I exhale the sweet potato fades, the berries begin to fade as well and the chestnuts begin to show up on my tongue. The exhale is syrupy berries with a low medium level of intensity. I want to say I taste blackberry, blueberry and a hint of strawberry. After a split second the sweet potato joins slightly behind the berry syrup and the chestnuts follow. Sometimes the chestnut flavor is on par with the sweet potato intensity and sometimes it stands out in front of the berry syrup. The aftertaste is always the chestnuts and it lingers for a while with a very light backdrop of sweetness. Although I am not really sure I would call the chestnuts candied.
Unfortunately for me the vape leaves a dry or slightly burning effect on my throat and rear of the roof of my mouth. Almost like a lingering throat hit. I find that the <a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/<a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/eliquid_c_7.html”>eliquid_c_7.html”>juice benefits best from medium high to high wattage. At lower wattage the berries do not really show and the chestnuts are almost imperceptible as well. I really wanted to enjoy this, but the burning is very off putting for me.
Corde Du Roi (Tasty)
Cardamom custard buns with a malted peanut butter glaze? Sign me up! A unique blend of flavors such as this coming from KiC sounds like a must have and I am glad to have gotten a bottle with them constantly being sold out. The scent of the bottle is primarily cardamom with traces of bakery, peanut butter and malt.
On the inhale you get cardamom, a spiced earthy flavor that is hard to describe to those who haven't tasted it. The best I can say is it has notes similar to ginger, the sweetness of grapefruit, an almost menthol like (but extremely light) cooling undertone with a light floral note to it. Before I exhale there is a light and sweet nutty tone that joins in. The exhale is more cardamom with a decently thick custard tone with a slight bakery type note. The custard had more of an eggy taste to it when I first opened it, but has subsided a lot in the week it has been open. Deep underneath is a sweet and awesome peanut butter glaze, but you really have to pay attention for it to not be lost in the blend. Hints of malt are splattered throughout the exhale and linger on the tongue after you are done with the cardamom.
This <a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/<a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/eliquid_c_7.html”>eliquid_c_7.html”>juice is really good, but a little too much for me to be an ADV. The flavors work well with medium and high wattage settings. With lower settings a lot of the nuances of the <a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/<a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/eliquid_c_7.html”>eliquid_c_7.html”>juice just disappear.
Yellow Noise Maker (Tasty)
Fruit, tea, ice cream and tempura batter? Now that is a weird combination to come up with, but leave it to KiC to make it work. The scent of the bottle is strangely medicinal.
On the inhale I get primarily ice cream with a nice creamy feel to it with a hint of tempura at the end. Resting before I exhale I taste strawberry and apple with tea joining in at the last minute. The tea is dark and natural tasting and not leafy like most tea vapes taste. The exhale is more creamy ice cream with the fruit mix blending with slightly less intensity than the ice cream. Underneath there is a lightly airy tempura batter with hints of dark tea. After the exhale the tea comes out into the front leaving it on your tongue for a few seconds before your left with a mixture of fruit and tempura.
At low wattage settings the fruit loses a lot of oomph and seems to be mostly apple. The tea is almost non existent except in the aftertaste and the tempura is lighter as well. Medium wattage settings are good if you want less tea and high wattage settings provide the full effect. I was really uncertain of how I would take to this mixture by the description, but it is an excellent blend that can be done all day.
Lenola Cream (Awesome)
The one that started it all. Bananas, pies, fruit and creaminess all wrapped up in one amazing vape. Why has it taken me so long to review this? Well to keep it somewhat short, I came late on the hype train and purchased this early in my reviewing history. I wanted to do something much more than a simple review, I wanted to study Lenola. I did all kinds of things for months upon months. Breathing, extended steeping, different builds, different wicking, even adding menthol to mute some flavors and make others pop. In the end it all became overly cumbersome all the notes and my ever increasing back log of <a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/<a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/eliquid_c_7.html”>eliquid_c_7.html”>juices to review. So I let it go, until KiC released all their new flavors. I figured I could just do a simple review like I normally do. I will however leave a semi short list of some of the things I tasted in my journey (just so I can feel it wasn't a complete waste). The scent of the bottle is creamy banana, light pie crust and fruit.
On the inhale I instantly get a creamy taste that has light banana under it and a faint crust like flavor. At the end of the inhale fruit begin to show up, starting with strawberry. Before I exhale the creamy banana and crust disappear leaving strawberry and now apple, quince and a green apple like tartness in the background dancing on my tongue. The exhale is primarily a nice creamy banana with the fruit beneath it and a pie crust beneath that. There is also a nuttiness to it like perhaps hazelnut. The aftertaste is apple and quince with banana cream lightly lathering my tongue.
The vape does best at middle wattage settings. Low reduces a lot of the flavors that make the vape great while high hides the fruits a bit. One of the wonderful things about Lenola is that the experience constantly changes with how the fruits come to play. Sometimes they overtake the exhale, sometimes they almost don't even appear on the inhale. The pie crust can take over the aftertaste or the banana cream leaves you salivating at the end. Now as I promised, here is a purge of flavors I tasted in my 9 month exploration of Lenola without going into all the ways I got there:
banana cream, graham, touch of cinnamon perhaps, pastry crust, light vanilla, whipped cream, hints of lime, hazelnut notes, cookie notes, slight touch of lemon, maybe a little green apple, i want to say something clove like, touches of blueberry with a hint of maybe lemon zest on the back end of the inhale, light lemon and lime to banana on tongue, light cinnamon or nutmeg and pastry crust, light nutty undertones kinda almond-ish, light graham cracker, some fruit like flavor I can't identify. lightly sweet cream all the way.cinnamon toast crunch.
Stasera (Pretty Good)
Lenola Cream with caramel apples? I am intrigued by the thought of this. The scent of the bottle is apple and something nutty.
The inhale starts off with a nice caramel, then a within a second or two an apple undertone joins in. The apple is akin to a granny smith apple with the mild beginnings of tartness. Before I exhale the caramel drops down to almost non existent and the apple increases in intensity. The exhale begins with the caramel with apple undertones while bringing a creamy thickness. Around halfway through the exhale the apple seems to disappear and the signs of Lenola begin to show up. Hints of pie crust, an almost hazelnut nutty flavor, something akin to nutmeg and pure creaminess.
The <a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/<a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/eliquid_c_7.html”>eliquid_c_7.html”>juice does better at mid to high wattage settings. Low settings leave out a lot of the flavors and drastically reduce the caramels depth. Personally I wish the apple had a bit more defined tartness and the aspects of Lenola played a little more of a role. However like Lenola some hits have different flavors mixed into the earlier stages of the exhale, but they are very minimal as the caramel maintains dominance.
So lately I have started to learn that I actually do enjoy some mint flavored <a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/eliquid_c_7.html”>eliquids. However when I was doing my overblown tear down of Lenola, I tried it with some menthol and was not a fan. Combine that with my having not personally enjoyed a peppermint vape, the idea of peppermint Lenola Cream seems a bit scary. The scent of the bottle is peppermint.
On the inhale it starts of mildly sweet and a cooling minty sensation joins in halfway through. Before I exhale there is a light minty-ness. The exhale actually starts with somewhat of a Lenola taste. Pie crust, hazelnut and maybe some light fruit (might be imagined). Then there is more peppermint that is almost buttery. The aftertaste left is exactly like that of the aftertaste of peppermint.
This <a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/<a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/eliquid_c_7.html”>eliquid_c_7.html”>juice does fairly well across the board on wattage settings. The flavors just intensify as you go higher. Overall I think the peppermint mutes out most of the other flavors. Its not in your face knock you down intensity, I just thing the flavor itself masks the others.
Hmmm, honeydew Lenola Cream. Interesting, yet scary as well. I have had numerous honeydew vapes that the honeydew just tramples everything else in the mixture. Hopefully that will not be my experience here. The scent of the bottle is definitely honeydew melon.
On the inhale I get the deeper honeydew notes. Before I exhale some sweetness and brightness. The exhale is more deep honeydew with an almost graham like sweetness. After about 1-2 seconds I begin seeing some of the notes from Lenola like pie crust, hazelnut and maybe some apple. For some reason this blend is less creamy than the other deconstructed blends, but is still slightly creamy.
While I wasn't as turned off by KiC's honeydew I still find it to not be my taste. This blend does best with medium to high wattage settings. Low wattage settings dull the overall experience and hide some of the Lenola notes.
Lenola Cream sans banana add strawberry? Yes please! Out of the whole deconstructed line, this is the one I most looked forward to. The scent of the bottle is light strawberry and bakery notes.
The inhale stacks rather quickly. First the bakery notes show, they are quickly joined by a nice lightly airy cream and finally a fresh juicily ripe strawberry announces itself. Before I exhale the strawberry gains a bit of tart/tangy flavor. The exhale is classic Lenola Cream creaminess with pie crust, light apple, quince, hazelnut but now with a lovely strawberry.
While this review is short (simply because I already reviewed Lenola OG), the take away is that this <a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/<a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/eliquid_c_7.html”>eliquid_c_7.html”>juice is excellent!. At low wattage settings you miss certain Lenola notes and the flavors seem a little more separated, however medium and high wattage settings work great. This is another out of the park mixture by KiC for sure.
