I just picked up a VooPoo Drag. My previous mod was an Alien 220w.
I personally don't think there is a comparison in terms of build quality and quality of functionality between the two. However I do like the ergonomics of the Alien more.
I initially used the Drag with the same tank and coil (Baby Beast with X4 coil) as I had on the Alien at the same wattage. Even on an old, ready to be replaced coil, the flavor was better and the vape remained smooth and with the same temperature throughout a pull when using the Drag. With the Alien the temperature of the vape would rise the longer the pull.
I swapped a new X4 coil into my baby beast tank and tested again on the Alien and Drag. Again, the Drag was superior in terms of vape smoothness and consistency of temperature.
I'm really pleased thus far with this mod. Assuming that the build quality equals longevity I think it's well worth the $55 I paid for it.

When I first got this mod, The 1st thing I noticed was it’s a good looking mod. Looks like a bigger and bit more boxier version of the SX mini G class. Almost like a cross between that and the cuboid tap. The screen is nice and big with a decent amount of info. The mod itself is simple to use with the ijoy 3 click menu system like most. It’s not a feature rich mod by any means, but it has all the basics you’d want and the ijoy 3 second preheat curve. The mod doesn’t feel too much bigger then most dual 18650 mods. It is very comfortable as well to hold and all in all, I liked the looks and feel of this mod. Now lets get into the performance
Let’s get into some data. The good? This mod output 49 amps. Which is very impressive. I’ve never had a dual battery mod go over 40 and only a few hit 40. Most tap out between 30-40. Only some triple and quad battery mods go as high as 49. Even the maxo 315 and snow wolf 365 tap out at 40. So that was impressive. The watt limit was 212 falling short of the advertised 234. The volt limit was 6.422 so we’ll call it 6.5. The watt and volt limits were depressing. The voopoo Drag hit over 7 volts and plenty of mods like the alien put out over 212 watts with worse batteries. I would have liked to see it do the full 234 as advertised. Still over 200 watts isn’t bad for a dual battery mod. This mod also gets insanely hot. Not the full mod itself or the batteries, but the top plate of the mod. It gets scorching hot. It’s almost as if it absorbs all the heat of the atomizers. I never tested a mod that got that hot on the top. As far as the numbers go, the firing was consistent but the signal was shaky. It also hit low sometimes and high other times. Only in a few cases was the mod somewhat accurate. Not counting for hitting limits, worse case watts high was 25 and worse case watts low was 5. It was mostly hitting on the high side. Except it won’t feel like that which I’ll explain in a bit. Also a few times, lowering down the watts by 25 yielded no difference in the output of the mod. Not the 1st time I’ve seen it on a mod, but it’s pretty rare. For instance, on the .164 testing at 200 watts and 175 watts the output was the same (197 watts) Same with the .373 ohm tests where going from 125 watts to 100 watts yielded the same results (111 watts). Then dripping it to 75 it put out 100 watts. So dropping the mod from 125 to 75 (a 50 watt difference) only changed the output total by 11 watts (111 to 100)
Now lets talk about why you won’t feel it hitting high. The 510 pin on this mod is a poor performer. I didn’t disassemble this mod to see the actual design of the 510 pin, But I can say it’s extremely deep to make 1st contact, with very little spring to it and causes resistance to jump. Matter of fact 2 of the approximately 10 atomizers I used on it, refused to work (the sense blazer 200 and aromamzier plus) On top of that, it read resistances much lower. My .1 was read at .88, my .15 was read at .142, my .2 was read at .164 and worse of all my .52 was read at .373. Meaning that in reality for instance on my 75 watt test where it put out 100 it was really putting out about 72 the mod just doesn’t realize it. It’s a weird case of “2 wrongs almost making a right” Which is why it doesn’t feel like it’s hitting high. The combination of the resistance reading lower and the mod firing higher balanced out to a decent output. This is why I hate reviewers going too much by “feel” it’s things like that that would completely get missed. Where someone may say I used the same atty on my DNA and this at 75 watts and it felt about the same, They wouldn’t be wrong but it would be the case of dumb luck on the mods part that should be noted. Hell even a broken clock is right twice a day. Overall I call this a poor performer in watt mode, both due to the chip itself and the 510 pin
Using SS wire in SS mode, The short version is this failed every step of the way. You can watch the video when I did it live too but in my testing even with the simple builds (spaced round single coil and spaced round dual coil) with saturated wicks and at 550F the mod barely put out any vapor. My best guess is due to the 510 pin. Jumping resistance will cause temp control to kick in. many times the mod itself wouldn’t even bring it up to temp anyway. Just a piss poor temp control output from this mod. With actual usage in my dual fancy coil config, temp control also cut off way too early. It was like vaping air. No good at all. Overall I give this mod a fail for temp control.
The performance in watt mode on this mod was sub par by any standard. It was on par with the performance of this mod in temp control which was also just awful. On top of that this mod had 2 big draws for me personally. 1 was the batteries (which didn’t disappoint) and the other was the fact it handles 30mm atomizers. Too bad when I put my favorite one on (the aromamzier plus) it wouldn’t fire for me. I can’t really think of any redeeming quality for this mod personally. Not to mention, if you look at my video link you’ll see some atomizers have a pretty big gap on the mod and they sit crooked as well.
So with all that said, do I recommend this mod? I don’t like to do hard yes or no, but this one leans heavily towards the No. So much so I’ll flat out call it a no. Unless you really wanted to try the new batteries I can’t think of a reason to buy this mod. The fact some atomizers don’t’ work on it, the fact it reads resistance really off, the fact the watt mode and temp mode don’t work very well. The fact the top plate gets super hot. There really isn’t much of a reason to own this mod. The one thing I will say since I haven’t checked out other reviews on it is maybe, just maybe I happened to get a bad one? IDK couldn’t tell you. I do have a preorder for the rainbow one in. I’ll retest when that arrives and do an update if needed, but overall I’d currently avoid this mod personally.
For good recommendations feel free to check out my google sheet of recommendations located here googlesheet this sheet will be updated regularly so feel free to bookmark it. <a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/<a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/eliquid_c_7.html”>eliquid_c_7.html”>E-liquid storage is a
hot topic among new and experienced vapers. Some argue that refrigeration is
key to preserving liquid, while others will swear it is the source of the
problem and that it causes the flavor to turn bad. Once thing that is generally
agreed upon is that exposure to light and darkness is detrimental to the health
and longevity of the e-<a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/<a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/eliquid_c_7.html”>eliquid_c_7.html”>juice. The truth is that storing the liquid in the
refrigerator can degrade the quality and should only be done as a last resort
or temporary solution.
The main reason
refrigerating your e-liquid should be avoided is that the nicotine inside it is
responsive to heat and light. Ideally, it should be kept in a slightly cool and
dark area. The temperature in the fridge is far too low and will degrade the
quality of the liquid. There are also usually artificial fridge lights that
will interfere with the <a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/<a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/eliquid_c_7.html”>eliquid_c_7.html”>juice after being exposed. In order to avoid all of
this, simply store it at room temperature in a dark area and keep away from all
Failing to properly
store your e-liquid will lead to a rapid loss in flavor. It might even alter
the flavor completely and leave you with something you cannot stand to vape,
let only taste. Given the concentrated nature of the liquid, these solutions
are particularly susceptible to temperature and light changes. Storing the
e-<a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/<a href="http://www.vapininthecape.com/eliquid_c_7.html”>eliquid_c_7.html”>juice in a cold place like the fridge often causes re-crystallization of
flavors that come with a high amount of crystals already. This makes vaping
difficult and often requires an entire new bottle.
It is also
important to avoid storing in places like the fridge because a lot of bacteria
festers there. Since water condenses in the head-space above the e-liquid,
it is particularly attractive to bacteria. The low temperature of the
refrigerator could also cause the liquid to begin clumping, which is difficult
to deal with.
It is better to be
safe than sorry. Storing your e-liquids outside of the fridge and in a cool,
dark location will ensure you are going to have a good vaping experience. If
for whatever reason you have to store it in the fridge, limit its exposure to
the cold and artificial light as much as possible. Only put it in the fridge if
you know you are going to be vaping it quickly afterward. But if maintaining
high quality and clean e-liquid is a priority of yours, go ahead and steer
clear of the fridge.
